FURRY FUR

Coat - Monki / pants; loafers - Zara / leather vest; accessories - Floralpunk / Striped Shirt - H&M
It's only October, but iam already freezing in my fur coat, which kept me warm during winter the last two years. Either it's because I have been sick the past two weeks, or because I feel the cold even more easily now, because Iam getting older (ha ha). I really don't know how Iam supposed the harsh icy winter Berlin without a proper jacket and boots to keep me warm. My only mission when shopping these days is to find clothes to keep me warm. Which is really hard, because they are supposed to look good as well. If I didn't care so much about looks, I'd just wear my purple Roxy snowboard jacket. And UGG boots. Nothing against UGG boots, but I don't like them on my feet. I don't like how they feel. So soft and odd. Like marshmallows. Anyone, if you have a great recommendation for me, whether it is jacket or boots, please share with me ! Iam so desperate to get through this winter as good as possible. I want to freeze and feel cold as little as possible. Because I really really hate feeling cold. Iam not made for German Winters man. So if you know a cool jacket that actually keeps you warm, tell me about it ! (Not Woolrich though.)

There is also an OOTD video existing for this outfit. I made my boyfriend film a little, after having seen Nisi's ootd video. I love how everything teetharejade do is done so nicely ! I really had high expectations of myself and my boyfriend for my first OOTD video, but we failed. The lightning and setting was really bad, it was getting dark outside already, so my video was a tad too dark as well. I tried to make it lighter and lost quality instead. Iam really disappointed, but will post it anyway. I will definitely do better next time ! (And will never shoot under bad light circumstances again!)
If you watch it, please watch it in HD ! At least 720p ! To see the video, click here.

& other stories: "Applebloom Pink" Total Tint Stick Review

other stories total tint stick review, other stories berlin, other stories schminke, other stories beauty

Buy it here

On my stroll through Berlin's Mitte, it was impossible to avoid the recently opened & other stories in Neue Schönhauser Allee. The second & other stories store in our capital, and surely not the last one, is just as well designed as the first one, and all other ones out there. They do it so well. Making their goods appeal to me in every way possible. I simply couldn't walk out of that store without buying anything. Even though I didn't want to buy anything ! I ended up going home with a small tube of hand creme, eye cream and this tint stick. I didn't need any of them, but somehow ended up buying them, because i simply couldn't not buy anything ! I love the packaging of & other stories beauty products so much, so I didn't even try to resist.

I love the idea behind this tint stick. It's an all-rounder. You can use it for your cheeks, your lips and your eyes. Applebloom Pink is a very pale pink with a little bit of glitter, that highlights and gives your skin a pretty glow. There are also other colours available, which are more vibrant, but I didn't think they'd suit me, so I got this one. Iam not a beauty or make-up geek, so I love the fact that I can walk around with this one stick and use it in different ways. It's so useful when Iam late for uni, and just look very dull, but don't have the time to do my eye make-up. I apply it on my eyelids, cheeks and I look much rosier instantly. The shit thing about it is, that it doesn't seem to last very long though. Because when I get home from uni, I feel like the pinkness is gone, and there's only glitter left. I really wish the tinting bit was more long-lasting. Because there's no point in using it, if it doesn't even stick around for a few hours. I never wear any make-up, so I don't know how long it lasts with foundation and stuff on. Or maybe I just have to apply more and more layers. Do any of you guys know similar products that I can try ? Recommend them to me, and I will make a review video ! I really want to make more beauty videos, even though I don't know much about make-up. Iam eager to learn though, so you can follow me as i make progress. As for this product, I will continue using it on my without make-up days, but I doubt I will buy it again.

Wedding Dress Shopping

photos by Phan Nhat Minh

Marriages sometimes aren't so much of a big deal as weddings are. So many couples don't care about working on their marriage and relationship, but for their wedding, they go to incredibly great extents. Especially for women, the wedding day is extremely important. When you think of a wedding, what do you think of ? Usually of a woman in a beautiful white gown, isn't it ? Not of a man in a suit, right ? Because a wedding dress is a spectacle you don't often get to see. A wedding dress is something special naturally connected with the word wedding, in our western society. Wearing a wedding dress is the closest a woman can get to being a princess, a lot of girls dream to be when they are young. Those little girls eventually realize that they might never be a princess, because they weren't born into aristocratic families, but at least they can look like a princess, wearing a beautiful gown, on occasions like their wedding. Such occasions are treasured, and highly anticipated, for girls like me. Or should I say women ? I know some girls who don't want to marry, have a beautiful wedding and wear a wedding gown, but iam not of that kind. I want all a lush wedding can offer. A white princess dress with a lot of tulle and lace, a dropdead gorgeous cake, a lot of flowers, and you know, just the whole package. Feeling like a princess who has it all, i love those moments.

By the way, I'm not going to get married anytime soon. The reason why you see me in a wedding dress is because I love everything wedding including wedding gowns ! My friend Fan Xia just opened a wedding gown shop in Munich a month ago, and invited me over to check out her shop. With my boyfriend as wedding photographer, and into wedding as well, we couldn't say no. Her shop offers all the fashion a groom and a bride need. Suits, gowns, accessories, shoes, just everything. While the men's section only covers the space at the front of the shop, the women's section with the beautiful wedding gowns has a whole room at the back. Beautiful white dresses, wherever you look, with a table full of accessories and bling in the middle. Spacious dressing rooms with huge mirrors and seats for your girlfriends, offer all you need for trying on wedding dresses. The shop, White Silhouette, offers a selection of different designers, and dresses from her own brand Shiyafan. Fan Xia, fashion design graduate of Esmod, made it. She created a beautiful little heaven for all soon-to-be brides. I got a little foretaste of what is expecting me in the future, and got to try on one of the wedding dresses from her own collection. Iam glad she chose for me, because I was slightly overwhelmed by the choice of gowns. Every dress is simply beautiful. So if you are getting married anytime soon, and are still looking for a good shop to get your dress from, check out White Silhouette

Do you happen to have a mom, whose style is so not yours at all ? Do you secretly envy your friends who can borrow beautiful clothes from their mother's closet all the time, and say that it's vintage from the 80's ? Welcome to the club then. My mom cares about her appearance a lot, and she loves shopping and is quite interested in "fashion", but what she likes is simply never what I like. She is more of a girly girl, digging colours like purple and shades of brown, while iam more of a black and white person. She likes glittery and cute clothes, while i prefer minimalistic cuts. It's simply not meant to be. I rarely ever find something in her closet that I would wear, so i never really look.

So when I was looking for accessories for my Dirndl the other day, I knew I wouldn't find what I was looking for among my stuff, so I checked out her accessories and saw this gorgeous Rado watch. I had seen her wearing the watch before, but somehow I never found it pretty on her wrist haha. I took it, wore it, my mom saw it on me, and told me to keep it, because it suits me. And that's how I got a new old watch. Which has an even greater value, because I got it from my mom. I wish she had more things I would wear.

How about you ? Can you share your parents closet, or are you one of the poor souls like me, who simply doesn't share your parents taste ?

Elemental Lim

Phillip Lim SS14 NYFW

All shot by me using Canon 600D
This season, Phillip Lim purposely exercised a survey of raw landscapes, terrains, geodge-formations and life within a brute yet beautiful charged ecosystem. To me, it is all very elemental with a soft twist to each piece that he put on the runway. Very edgy downtown girl with attitude and a rebellious approach. What is your fave piece from the collection, mine is definitely that metallic vest. Have a fabulous weekend!
With love <3 N

Why I decided not to go to Paris Fashion Week.

Nina Ricci F/W 13 via Labert and Associates

I lay awake all night with a disturbing question on my mind. I couldn't get my thoughts off it, and it wouldn't let me sleep either. Should I go to Paris Fashion Week ? By myself ? Should I, or should I not ?

Nga won't be there as she is back in London and has exams this week, but I do have the time. Actually. Uni hasn't started for me yet. We got several invitations, Nina Ricci, Viktor & Rolf etc. including backstage access. Backstage access is something amazing. You can take photos of the models behind the scenes, maybe take photos with the models if you can find the time, and it gives you the feeling of being right there in the middle of fashion industry. An excitement for people who don't work in the industry, that can't be compared to any other feeling.

It definitely is an opportunity, but is it really worth it ? Going to Fashion Week without being sponsored is not a cheap thing to do. In major cities like London, Paris, New York and Milano, living expenses are high. Thus when you come from a place like Berlin, where living expenses are low, it simply will cost you more money than you were going to spend if you just stayed in Berlin. If you plan it as a trip, and have saved money beforehand for your journey, it is a different matter. But if you suddenly get invitations, and are supposed to spend money from the funds you currently have, money you wanted to spend on something else, the questions of whether it is worth is pops up basically by itself.

The fact that Nga won't be there, and none of my other friends is willing to go with me, I started wondering, 'Do I really want to go by myself?'. I do know some people in Paris, but it is not the same feeling as going with your close friends. Shouldn't I be more independent and not rely on my friends for such a matter ? I have travelled by myself before, and it was never as much fun as travelling with my friends. If you compare this whole fashion week affair with a super fancy party, you are invited to. Would you go ? With the opportunity to maybe meet fancy people and with the opportunity to dress yourself fancily. But without much money to spend on the fancy drinks, and without knowing anyone at the party, would you be able to have fun ? I wouldn't. I most definitely wouldn't. That's why I decided not to go to Paris Fashion Week. Paris is a beautiful city, but I don't want to be there on my own, without much money in my pocket. Shows and backstage, and all excitement aside.

I'm choosing to stay in Munich instead, to spend the time with my friends, and to have fun, far away from the fashion week turmoil and far away from Paris. The good thing about fashion week and paris  are that they don't vanish. So I might miss out this season, but there will always be a next time. As there will also always be a fancier party to attend. Besides I still can have my share of Paris Fashion Week thanks to style.com and the many other bloggers who are going.

Cheers,
Julia

Moving into a boyfriends room

Two cinema displays - godknowswhy.
My Macbook Air. His Macbook pro. The mouse pad I got him in Beijing.

This closet solution cost me less than 20€ thanks to IKEA.
My H&M rings and boyfriends custom made diamond ring (which is basically mine now because I wear it and he doesn't : P)
Here some first impressions. There was a lot to be done, but we are almost finished. Iam still looking for an apartment in Berlin, but until I find one, I guess I will just stay at my boyfriend's. His room had to undergo major reconstruction for me to want to stay here, because it was a boy's room before. And Iam a picky girl. It definitely needed some more prettiness, before I was willing to 'move in'. But a good boyfriend as he is, of course he agreed to changing the interior and to leave me some corners for my stuff. I must say, the room looks so much nicer now. I know moving in with boyfriend's isn't always that easy, as both parties sometimes aren't able to compromise. But as my boyfriend really wanted me to stay with him, he let me do whatever I wanted to do, and did whatever I wanted him to do.
In case you want to know how it looked like before, click here or here. There are more photos of how the room looks like right now in that album. I will show the complete room once iam done with my interior work. (Can't wait to find an apartment and furnish my own place !)

I bet some of you are moving right now for uni as well. Make sure your new place is nice and comfortable, it's so important. Buy a nice vase and flowers every now and then. Only take things with you that you really need to avoid messiness. And make sure you have a nice spacious desk for work. That you don't just use as shelf space haha. Having a desk to work at will improve your productiveness for sure ! Btw, anyone knowing of a nice apartment in Berlin for me ?
